Tehran Declares Iron-Clad Unity, Rejects Trump’s ‘Moderate–Extremist’ Claims

TEHRAN: In a unified and defiant response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s attempts to portray Iran as divided, all senior Iranian leaders issued a collective message rejecting any notion of extremists or moderates within the nation.

They declared that Iran stands as one people with iron-clad unity — resilient, resolute, and unwavering in its identity.

Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and President Masoud Pezeshkian posted matching messages of ironclad unity and obedience to the Supreme Leader, directly countering U.S. President Donald Trump's claim of leadership confusion in Iran.

Senior Iranian officials issued coordinated public statements stressing national unity after Trump said infighting in Tehran was a key reason behind his decision to extend the U.S. ceasefire with Iran, escalating a rhetorical showdown playing out across social media during a fragile diplomatic pause.

This came amid the 2026 Iran war, sparked in late February by U.S. and Israeli strikes, with a temporary ceasefire holding since April 8 but set to expire Sunday unless extended. Rumors of Ghalibaf's resignation from talks jolted oil prices and stocks before denials steadied markets, while Israel threatens fiercer strikes and U.S. voices debate next steps.

With the extraordinary unity of the nation and state institutions, and in full support of Ayatollah Khamenei, the Iranian people will make the criminal aggressor regret his actions. One God, one leader, one nation, and one path — the path to victory for the Islamic Republic, more precious to us than life itself.

Iranian leaders rejected Trump’s characterization, turning to X to emphasize discipline, unity and obedience to the country’s supreme leader.

President Masoud Pezeshkian wrote that the claims of divisions were false, declaring that the country’s leadership and population were aligned in purpose.

“In Iran there are no ‘hardliners’ or ‘moderates,’” Pezeshkian posted. “We are all Iranians and revolutionaries. With ironclad unity of nation and state and obedience to the Supreme Leader, we will make the aggressor regret.”

His message echoed nearly identical language used earlier by Iran’s parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who described the country as bound together by “iron unity” and “complete obedience” to the supreme leader.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi added to the pushback, writing: “The failure of Israel’s terrorist killings is reflected in how Iran’s state institutions continue to act with unity, purpose, and discipline. The battlefield and diplomacy are fully coordinated fronts in the same war. Iranians are all united, more than ever before.”

Taken together, the statements marked a rare, synchronized messaging effort from Iran’s top civilian and diplomatic leadership, appearing to directly counter Trump’s claim that Tehran was internally fractured.

In a post to Truth Social on Thursday morning, Trump said Iran was struggling to identify clear leadership, describing internal conflict between “hardliners” and “moderates.” He argued those divisions had delayed Iran’s ability to present a unified negotiating position, prompting the United States to keep the ceasefire in place rather than allow it to expire.

“Iran is having a very hard time figuring out who their leader is! They just don’t know!” Trump wrote, calling the situation “CRAZY” and asserting that the U.S. maintains total control over the Strait of Hormuz until Iran agrees to a deal.

Trump and the White House have said the ceasefire extension was intended to give Iran additional time to produce what the president called a “unified proposal” to end the conflict, while U.S. forces continue enforcing a naval blockade on Iranian ports.
