Iran Warns US, Israel Against ‘Miscalculation’ Ahead of Khamenei Funeral Processions

President Says Khamenei's Death Marks 'New Chapter'

TEHRAN: Iran has issued a fresh warning to the United States and Israel against any military action as the country prepares for the funeral ceremonies of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was killed during the recent conflict.

In a statement carried by Iranian state media, General Ali Abdollahi said any threat or aggression against Iran would be met with a "harsh and decisive" response from the country's armed forces.

Funeral processions for Khamenei are scheduled to begin in Tehran on July 4 and conclude with his burial in the city of Mashhad on July 9. Additional memorial ceremonies are also planned in Qom and Iraq.

The warning comes amid heightened tensions in the region and follows remarks by Israeli officials regarding Iran's leadership, prompting Tehran to reiterate its readiness to defend its sovereignty.

Iran Warns Over Strait of Hormuz

Iranian military authorities also warned against foreign interference in the Strait of Hormuz, describing the vital shipping route as part of Iran's security interests.

According to state media, Tehran said any US interference in the waterway would trigger a swift response. Iranian authorities also instructed commercial vessels to follow designated navigation routes to ensure safe passage through the strait.

Military officials stressed that maintaining security and stability in the Strait of Hormuz remains a strategic priority for Iran.

President Says Khamenei's Death Marks 'New Chapter'

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said the death of Khamenei would not mark the end of Iran's path but the beginning of a new chapter for the country.

Security measures have been tightened ahead of the funeral ceremonies, and temporary airspace restrictions are expected over several Iranian cities, including Tehran and Mashhad. The latest developments come as regional tensions remain high following months of conflict and diplomatic disputes involving Iran, the United States and Israel.
