Tehran remains grateful for Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts: Araghchi
'Truly appreciate your clarification, my dear brother,' Dar to Iran's counterpart
TEHRAN: Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, said claims circulating in US outlets pertaining to Tehran’s position are inaccurate, as the country has never refused to enter talks hosted in Pakistan.
In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter), Seyed Abbas Araghchi said that Iran remains grateful for Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts, adding that what matters most is the terms for a permanent end to the illegal war imposed on the Irani people.
Iran's position is being misrepresented by US media. “We are deeply grateful to Pakistan for its efforts and have never refused to go to Islamabad,” he added.
Iran’s Foreign Minister stated: “What we care about are the terms of a conclusive and lasting END to the illegal war that is imposed on us.”
Araghchi’s remarks come against a backdrop of intensifying conflict and stalled diplomacy.
Deputy Prime Minister & Foreign Minister of Pakistan Ishaq Dar reshared the post of his Iran’s counterpart Araghchi, stating, “Truly appreciate your clarification, my Dear Brother Araghchi.”
Tehran has repeatedly stated that it is not engaged in formal cease-fire talks unless they lead to a permanent end to hostilities and guarantees against future aggression. Iranian officials have emphasized they receive messages from U.S. counterparts (including via intermediaries), but have not formally responded to a U.S. 15-point peace proposal, and have described U.S. demands as unacceptable.
Iran’s foreign ministry has also strongly condemned U.S. and Israeli strikes on civilian infrastructure, calling them violations of international law and asserting they will not weaken Iranian resolve.
Separately, Islamabad has been attempting to position itself as a mediator in the conflict, though Pakistani officials have clarified that media and social media reports overstating its role in brokering formal talks are inaccurate.
The diplomatic tussle unfolds amid an ongoing war that has drawn in regional and global powers — with significant consequences not just militarily but economically and politically across the Middle East and beyond.
