KALAT: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has organised under-15, under-17 and under-19 cricket trials in Balochistan to identify emerging talent and provide young players with opportunities to showcase their abilities and pursue their ambitions at higher levels of the game.
The two-day trials attracted enthusiastic participation from hundreds of aspiring cricketers from Kalat, Mastung and Surab, reflecting the growing interest in cricket among young people across the region.
According to focal person Waheed Mengal, more than 100 boys and players representing 12 cricket clubs participated in the trials, which concluded after two days of assessing the youngsters’ cricketing abilities.
The players were evaluated under the supervision of Muhammad Hassan, an official coach of the Pakistan Cricket Board, who assessed their skills and potential as part of the talent identification process.
The initiative aims to identify promising young cricketers in Balochistan and create opportunities for them to demonstrate their abilities through an organised selection process. Participation from multiple districts also highlighted the potential available beyond the country’s established cricketing centres.
Local administration also played an important role in supporting the revival of cricket activities and encouraging greater participation in sports. Its involvement was appreciated by those associated with the sporting community.
Cricket enthusiasts and local sports circles welcomed the initiative, describing efforts to provide young cricketers from Kalat and surrounding areas with opportunities to compete and progress as an encouraging step towards developing grassroots cricket in Balochistan.
The successful conclusion of the trials has renewed hopes among aspiring players that their talent can receive greater recognition and potentially open pathways towards higher-level cricket.
With young players from Kalat, Mastung and Surab taking part, the PCB's talent hunt represents an important opportunity to bring regional cricketing potential into focus and encourage the next generation of cricketers in Balochistan.
