Waqas Akram Blasts Govt for Blaming PTI Workers to Hide ‘Violation of SC Order’ on Imran Khan’s Treatment

PTI CIS Says Imran Khan was taken to PIMS Instead of Shifa International Despite the top court’s Clear Directions

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Central Information Secretary (PTI CIS) Sheikh Waqas Akram strongly criticized the government for what he described as an attempt to conceal its alleged non-compliance with the Supreme Court’s (SC) order pertaining to the medical treatment of PTI founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Sheikh Waqas Akram said that blaming PTI workers with false allegations to conceal the violation of a court order is not a new tactic but an old pattern of government theatrics and deception.

PTI CIS recalled that the apex court’s order was crystal clear: Imran Khan was to be transferred to Shifa International Hospital for a comprehensive medical examination and treatment.

Waqas Akram said that the court had also directed that a complete medical board be constituted, including Imran Khan’s personal physician, Dr. Faisal Sultan.

He said the government itself had acknowledged that Imran Khan was taken to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) instead of Shifa International Hospital, which, he maintained, amounted to an open violation of the top court’s explicit directions.

PTI CIS went on to say that the party had already issued clear instructions the previous day that no gathering or demonstration should take place outside Shifa International Hospital, as Imran Khan’s health remained the party’s foremost concern.

“Conducting a secret transfer in the middle of the night and then blaming PTI workers for compromising security exposes the contradictions and falsehoods in the government’s own narrative,” Waqas Akram said.

He pointed out that the government had already filed a review petition against the SC’s order, thereby making its refusal to transfer Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital evident.

Waqas Akram said that sending Dr. Faisal Sultan separately to Shifa International Hospital while taking Imran Khan to PIMS cannot be described as compliance with the court’s order; rather, it amounts to misleading the court and the public.

He rejected the government’s claim that Imran Khan had always been provided with comprehensive medical facilities, saying that such assertions were contrary to the facts and judicial record, particularly in view of his years of solitary confinement and eye and blood-pressure-related health concerns.

Waqas Akram demanded that the government make Imran Khan’s complete medical reports public and implement the apex court’s order in letter and spirit.

“Imran Khan’s health is not a matter of political propaganda; it is a fundamental human right. Instead of engaging in political theatrics, the government must ensure full compliance with the directions of the Supreme Court,” he asserted.
