PESHAWAR: In a remarkable achievement for South Waziristan, Saba Rasool, daughter of Rasool Khan and a resident of Upper South Waziristan, has secured the first position in the written examination for the post of Civil Judge-cum-Judicial Magistrate / Alaqa Qazi (BPS-18) conducted by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Service Commission (KPPSC).

The result, announced by the KPPSC on Wednesday, marks a significant academic and professional achievement for Saba Rasool, who emerged as the top candidate in an exceptionally competitive examination for 105 judicial posts in the Peshawar High Court.

According to the KPPSC, 3,097 candidates applied for the posts, while 1,024 candidates appeared in the written examination held from April 21 to April 29, 2026. However, only three candidates succeeded in qualifying the written examination, with Saba Rasool securing the top position.

The other two successful candidates were Abdullah Noor, son of Noor Zada, from Bajaur, who stood second, and Syed Zahid Hussain, son of Izhar Ullah, from Mardan, who secured third position.

Saba Rasool’s success carries particular significance for South Waziristan, a region that has faced prolonged challenges in access to educational and professional opportunities. Her securing the top position among more than a thousand candidates who appeared in the examination has emerged as a source of pride for the people of the district and an encouraging example for its young students, particularly women.

The achievement demonstrates the growing participation of young people from the tribal districts in highly competitive professional examinations and offers an inspiring example to students in areas where educational opportunities have historically been more limited.

The KPPSC examination covered a wide range of subjects, including English General and English Essay, Urdu General and Urdu Essay, Pashto General and Pashto Essay, General Knowledge, Civil Law-I, Civil Law-II, Criminal Law, Islamic Jurisprudence, and Qanun-e-Shahadat 1984 and Pleadings.

The exceptionally low overall success rate further underlines the competitiveness of the examination. Out of the 1,024 candidates who appeared, only three qualified the written test.

Saba Rasool’s achievement has been widely welcomed by people from South Waziristan and other parts of the region, with messages of congratulations being extended to her parents and family. Her success is being viewed as a particularly encouraging development for young women of Waziristan, demonstrating that students from the region can compete successfully at the highest levels of provincial competitive examinations.

Saba Rasool is also the younger sister of Ayesha Rasool Mehsud, a recipient of the Sitara-i-Imtiaz, who serves as a Senior Consultant at the Ministry of Law and Justice and Project Director of the International Mediation and Arbitration Centre (IMAC), Pakistan.

Under the KPPSC result notification, the three successful candidates have been directed to submit their required documents, along with the duly signed Documents Submission Proforma, to the Commission by October 15, 2026.

The commission has also made detailed marks certificates available for candidates who did not qualify. Candidates seeking re-totalling of their marks may submit applications along with the prescribed Rs500 fee per paper within 15 days of the announcement of the result.
