ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has expressed profound sorrow and concern over the tragic roof collapse at a home-based academy in Lahore's Kahna area, which reportedly left several innocent children and a teacher trapped under the rubble.
In a statement issued by PTI Central Media Department on Tuesday, the party termed the incident a heartbreaking tragedy and extended its deepest sympathies and prayers to the affected children and their families. PTI also prayed for the speedy and complete recovery of all those injured in the incident.
PTI called for the immediate completion of rescue and relief operations and urged the authorities to ensure that all injured victims receive the best possible medical treatment without delay.
The party further demanded a transparent, impartial, and comprehensive investigation into the incident and stressed that all those found responsible must be brought to justice and face strict legal action.
PTI stated that the tragedy has raised serious questions about the construction standards, safety regulations, and government oversight of educational institutions and residential buildings being used as schools and academies.
The party urged the government to immediately conduct a nationwide audit of all unsafe and illegally operating educational centres and to implement effective measures to prevent such devastating incidents in the future, so that no other family has to endure similar pain and suffering.
