PTI Demands Immediate Relief for Masses as Global Oil Prices Flirt with Multi-Year Lows

Time Has Come to Walk the Talk, Waqas Tells Govt

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has demanded that the government immediately pass on the benefits of plummeting global crude oil prices to the Pakistani masses by announcing a substantial reduction in petroleum prices, as international oil prices flirt with multi-year lows.

The party questioned why the people of Pakistan continue to suffer by being denied even a share of the significant decline in global fuel prices, Sheikh Waqas Akram PTI Central Information Secretary in a statement issued by the PTI Central Media Department on Tuesday.

“While the world laughs all the way to the pump with cheaper fuel, our people are left paying premium rates for the privilege of economic suffocation,” he remarked.

In a scathing indictment of the regime’s priorities, Akram highlighted how a massive chunk of petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan is devoured by an ever-growing mountain of taxes, levies, and duties. “The government has masterfully turned fuel into a revenue cow, milking it dry while the common man struggles to keep his motorcycle running or his kitchen stove lit. This is not governance; this is organized plunder disguised as fiscal policy,” he added.

Akram noted that responsible nations across the globe swiftly transfer the dividends of falling oil prices to their citizens. “But here in Pakistan, the ruling elite treats public relief as an optional expense and revenue collection as a sacred duty,” he added. Waqas emphasized: “This anti-people approach exposes a heartless regime more interested in filling its coffers than easing the unbearable burden of inflation, unemployment, and daily survival on ordinary Pakistanis.”

PTI demands that the government forthwith slash the unnecessary and punitive taxes and levies on petroleum products and bring petrol and diesel prices in line with current global realities. The people, crushed under the weight of skyrocketing inflation and economic despair, deserve immediate and meaningful relief, not empty slogans, he pressed.

“If this government truly believes in its own rhetoric of public welfare, the time has come to walk the talk,” declared Waqas. “Pakistani nation has reached its breaking point. It will no longer tolerate this blatant economic exploitation because relief is not a favor, it is the rightful due of a suffering people,” he concluded.
