QUETTA: Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail said that Pakistan holds a proud place in the world of sports, having achieved global recognition as a world champion in squash, cricket, hockey and snooker.
He made these remarks while talking to a delegation led by Haji Muhammad Qasim, Secretary General of the Balochistan Fencing Association, which called on him here at the Governor House in Quetta on Friday.
Governor Balochistan stressed the need that all athletes are national assets, and the government’s efforts to organize sports in the province and provide financial support aim to promote athletic participation among the youth. Engaging young people in sports, he added, helps safeguard them from drugs and other social evils.
Mandokhail further praised the province for producing talented water sports and fencing athletes alongside other sportspersons. Highlighting the potential of Balochistan’s youth, Governor Balochistan said, “Our young people are no less talented than anyone else, but the lack of proper opportunities and facilities remains a major obstacle. With the right support, our emerging athletes can shine nationally and internationally, bringing pride to both the province and the country.”
