MNA Zubair Wazir to Join Jirga if Shakai Land Dispute Remains Unresolved

Saeed Anwar Optimistic About Amicable Resolution of Sparkai and Khujalkhel tribes Land Dispute as Both Sides Repose Full Trust in Jirga

Hamid Khan Wazir

WANA: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of the National Assembly from Lower South Waziristan Zubair Khan Wazir has announced that he will visit Tehsil Shakai and join the ongoing jirga if the land dispute between the Sparkai and Khujalkhel tribes is not resolved peacefully within the next one or two days.

Zubair Wazir said he was in constant contact with the district administration, District Police Officer and tribal elders and urged both sides to maintain the ceasefire, exercise restraint and give the jirga full opportunity to resolve the dispute through dialogue and mutual understanding.

The jirga, headed by Malik Saeed Anwar Mehsud, is continuing its efforts to broker an amicable settlement. Elders from Wana, Malikshahi and Mehsud tribes, along with Tehsildar Wana Zafar, SHO Shakai Muhammad Ismail Khan, SHO Sadiq and Levies official Qutb Khan, are participating in the proceedings.

Jirga head Malik Saeed Anwar said both sides were fully cooperating with the jirga and had expressed strong confidence in its members. He termed the collection of surety bonds from both sides a major breakthrough, saying it was an essential requirement of the jirga process.

He said both sides had agreed to maintain a ceasefire for as long as the jirga proceedings continued. Any violation of the ceasefire would result in the forfeiture of the concerned side’s surety bond, he added.

Malik Saeed Anwar expressed optimism that the dispute would be resolved amicably, citing the cooperation of both tribes and the sincerity of the jirga members.

Meanwhile, security measures have been further tightened across Shakai in view of the dispute. Police have established checkpoints at various locations and intensified snap checking to prevent any escalation and maintain law and order.

SHO Shakai Muhammad Ismail Khan said security measures would remain in place and efforts would continue until tensions between the two sides were brought under control. Both tribes have been urged to exercise patience, uphold the ceasefire and cooperate with the jirga to ensure a peaceful and lasting resolution of the dispute.
