LAHORE: The Sharif family is set to mark another major family occasion as Mahnoor Safdar, the youngest daughter of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar, is scheduled to solemnise her nikah today (Saturday) at the family’s Jati Umra residence.
Media reports said the ceremony has been planned as a private family affair, with close relatives and invited guests expected to attend. The wedding arrangements have largely remained away from the public spotlight, as the family did not announce any large-scale celebrations or formal reception.
Mahnoor Safdar is reportedly set to marry Azan Jabbar, son of businessman Jabbar Khalid. Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his sons Hasan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb are among those expected to attend the ceremony, according to media reports.
The wedding comes shortly after Mahnoor completed her graduation in Anthropology from SOAS University of London, where she studied from 2023 to 2026.
Few days ago, Maryam Nawaz travelled to London to attend her youngest daughter’s graduation ceremony. The CM Punjab later returned to Lahore on Wednesday after sharing the family milestone with Mahnoor.
During her visit, Maryam described her daughter’s graduation as a moment of immense pride and happiness, saying that there could be no greater source of joy for parents than seeing their children complete their education. She also noted that all three of her children had now completed their higher studies.
Mahnoor, who has generally remained away from the public spotlight, is the youngest of Maryam Nawaz and Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar’s three children.
Her nikah follows the marriage of her brother, Junaid Safdar, who married Shanzeh Ali Rohale in January. Junaid’s wedding featured several elaborate events, including a green-themed mehndi, a grand baraat and an outdoor valima held at the Sharif family’s Jati Umra estate.
In contrast, Mahnoor’s wedding is expected to remain a more intimate occasion, with the family choosing to celebrate the milestone primarily in the presence of close relatives and friends.
