PTI founder's sister sustains injuries on nose, hands, feet
RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan's sister was injured after falling while crossing an under-construction sewerage line near Dahgal Naka, Rawalpindi, on Tuesday.
Access to Imran Khan has been a point of contention between the government and PTI, as scheduled meetings with his family on Tuesdays and Thursdays have been repeatedly blocked. However, despite these setbacks, family members continue their attempts to meet the imprisoned leader.
Noreen, along with other PTI leaders, was at Dahgal Naka attempting to meet the jailed PTI founder when they were stopped by police at a checkpoint. As they tried to cross the construction site on foot, Noreen lost her balance and fell into a drain being constructed as part of a sewerage line on Adiala Road. She sustained injuries to her hands, feet and nose.
Rescue personnel and bystanders pulled her out of the under-construction drain and moved her to a safe location. Another woman, identified as Sadaf, also fell into the drain and sustained serious injuries. Sadaf was later transferred to a government hospital for immediate treatment.
Noreen, along with her sisters and other women, were present at the Dahgal Naka to meet PTI founder Khan at Adiala Jail. They were trying to cross the construction site after police stopped their car at the post.
Khan's family has been demanding to meet him at the prison, especially since his health has emerged as the latest point of contention between the government and the opposition comprising PTI and the TTAP alliance.
