ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Housing and Works Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada voiced serious displeasure over the nearly three-year delay in the completion of the Green Enclave-I and Lifestyle Residency projects, seeking a detailed explanation from officials of the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA).
The Federal Minister expressed his concerns, while presiding over the 50th meeting of the FGEHA Executive Board here on Wednesday. He directed the authorities concnered to identify and remove the causes of the long delay immediately take effective and practical measures to ensure the completion of the projects wihtout any further delay.
Riaz Pirzada said that he had repeatedly been required to respond to questions regarding the progress of the projects at parliamentary forums, Senate standing committees and other relevant platforms. However, despite the passage of nearly three years, the projects had yet to see the light of the day.
The Federal Minister also took serious notice of media reports regarding protests by Green Enclave-I allottees and their approach to the Federal Ombudsman. He said the concerns of the allottees could not be ignored as many citizens had invested their lifelong savings in the projects with the expectation of securing homes.
He directed FGEHA authorities to ensure transparency, accountability and effective performance in resolving the issues faced by the allottees. He made it clear that no further unnecessary delay in the completion of the projects would be tolerated.
The Federal Minister also ordered that all pending inquiry reports be completed and submitted within the stipulated timeframe. He observed that delays in inquiries were not only complicating the problems but were also creating uncertainty among officers and employees of the authority.
He said a large number of people, from senior bureaucrats to lower-grade employees, had invested their hard-earned money in the projects to acquire homes but had been waiting for an unreasonable length of time.
Riaz Pirzada directed the FGEHA Board to take timely action against those found responsible in light of the findings and recommendations of the inquiry reports. He stressed that the entire process must be fair, transparent, merit-based and supported by solid justification. The meeting also considered the FGEHA's annual budget for the financial year 2026-27, which was approved by the Executive Board.
