ISLAMABAD: British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott called on Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti to discuss matters of mutual interest, development cooperation in Balochistan, and ways to strengthen bilateral relations.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed opportunities for collaboration in key sectors, including education, healthcare, governance, institutional capacity building, and investment.

Chief Minister Bugti briefed the British High Commissioner on the provincial government's ongoing administrative reforms, public welfare initiatives, and development priorities. He said that establishing lasting peace, ensuring sustainable development, strengthening governance, and improving public services remain among the government's top priorities.

He added that the provincial government is implementing comprehensive reforms aimed at making the development process more effective, transparent, and accountable.

"Balochistan is a province rich in mineral resources, strategic geographical importance, and vast investment opportunities. With the support of international partners, new avenues for development and prosperity are being created," the chief minister said.

Bugti expressed hope that cooperation between the United Kingdom and Balochistan would continue to expand across various sectors, contributing to public welfare and sustainable development.

Jane Marriott appreciated the provincial government's development initiatives, reform programmes, and efforts to improve public service delivery. She also expressed interest in further strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The chief minister also briefed the British envoy on the current administrative and political situation in Balochistan, as well as the government's response to recent terrorist incidents.

He said the provincial government plans to convene an all-parties conference in the near future to promote lasting peace and political harmony in the province. Representatives of both parliamentary and non-parliamentary political parties will be invited to participate in developing a joint strategy to address terrorism and strengthen peace and stability.
