Governor Hails University of Turbat's Progress, Commends Rising Female Enrollment

Mandokhel says Senate decisions are binding, urges students to pursue excellence in education

Staff Report

QUETTA: Balochistan Governor Jafar Khan Mandokhel on Tuesday praised the University of Turbat (UoT) for its academic progress, describing it as a leading higher education institution and highlighting that more than half of its students are women.

Presiding over the university's 10th Senate meeting, the governor said UoT is the only university in Pakistan where female students constitute the majority of the student population, calling it a significant indicator of educational progress and social development.

He also commended the university's improved performance, noting that its latest five-year plan had raised its overall score to 91.4 percent. He credited Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Hassan and the university's faculty and administration for the achievement, while stressing that continuous improvement remains essential.

The meeting was attended by Provincial Education Minister Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani, Balochistan High Court Justice Sardar Ahmed Halimi, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Hassan, Higher Education Secretary Saleh Baloch, Higher Education Commission representative Dr. Zahoor Bazai and other Senate members.

Governor Mandokhel described the University Senate as the institution's highest decision-making body, comparing its role to that of a cabinet in government. He said Senate decisions are final and must be implemented to ensure transparency, accountability and effective governance.

Addressing students, the governor urged them to remain committed to their education, saying knowledge is the most valuable investment for a successful future. The Senate meeting concluded with the approval of several decisions based on recommendations presented by its members.
